I'm in the press...
Well the Eurojam newspaper at least.
Read it here.
Lots of lessons to be learned, some by me.
A bit too much us and them here for my liking- this needs addressing for 2007 where we need to be one staff team even if we are recruited by different methods. Still on the IM team 97% of us have been great, with only one or two "JOT"ers beening a problem.
I'm considering researching a management training programme, and offering it to the Scout Association, Scouting 2007, whoever needs it to train those in positions of responsibility

Looks great fun! There is definitely a difference between "managing" in the work environment and "managing" volunteers for a high pressure, short period - trying to use the same methods in both situations doesn't work, as the motivations are so different. Still, some basics like communicating, ensureing people know whats expected of them, not expecting them to work 27 hours a day from more than 3 days at a time etc are transferable!
Still, I'd rather be having a bad five minutes at eurojam than a hot and sweaty afternoon crunching numbers in South Wales...
keep enjoying it Simon,
