Oh dear, whatever happened to taste.

Am I getting old or is football fever getting worse?

Sure there was hype over previous world cups- but right now 1 in 5 houses in my street have England banners hanging from the first floor windows. Was it always this bad and I just didn't notice? Or am I just being miserable.

Yesterday I was treated to rousing classical music of a "Last night of the proms" flavour, to find that it was drifting over from the Bradford Diosesean office. It's too much.

The news coverage is just symptomatic of broadcast news today, where a talking point will have a great deal of time devoted to it, even if there isn't much to say. I'm doubly glad Wayne Rooney has made a great recovery both because someone who was ill is now better and there won't be so much attention paid to his injury.

GRRRrrrrr is all I have to say about the world cup. By 4:35pm yesterday I'd had enough of it! I went to try and buy something in a shop that closes at 5pm to find it closed already ... probably because of a piffly little football match! Just 'cos England are playing the world doesn't stop .... did you see places shut down for days because England were playing 'The Ashes' last summer? Good job I escape the country in 2 weeks time for Canada (who like ice hockey much more!) so miss the final part ...

Bah Humbug! Its just overgrown schoolboys (although some are bearly out of school) kicking an inflated pigskin about.
