Groveling Apologies
A while back I implicitly criticized some LibDem Bloggers (OK I was thinking of Femme De Resistance, and Steve Guy) for their attitude towards "The Darbyshires".
I was very supportive of them at the time, I felt they were new to the whole internet thing, and needed to be cut some slack. I thought the whole ill advised reaction to a nasty and vindictive parody site written by a jealous rival was simply down to inexperience. I expected that they would learn from their mistakes and calm down.
I do take it all back. I was wrong. Their recent postings are a work of art to rival anything by Dali. The sheer hypocrisy of it all astounds me, they complain about criticism and back biting, yet are far more vicious and hysterical in their condemnation of others than anyone who's dared to poke fun at them. Mild mannered criticism is met by screaming abuse. As any sensible person knows to keep the moral high ground you must keep any response calm and proportionate. Lashing out at someone who's politely expressed a dislike of the colour of your shoes isn't what normal people do.
Their recent posts are particularly troubling. Perhaps I don't understand, but it all sounds terribly worrying.
My attitude towards "Personal" posting still stands, providing it's done by relatively sane people. We can't all be PPC material, or experts in Mill, but there are limits.

F&M is a purely political blog because I don't really feel comfortable sharing details of my life and interests with people googling "forceful sex". Ideally, I don't want them to know who I am! But I do enjoy expressing my opinions on current affairs and the news. LibertyCat feels the same and this explains the politics-only policy. Hopefully the artworking shows that I do other things except politics :D I guess this goes for people blogging exclusively about technology, art, collectables or any other subject.
I enjoy reading about other Lib Dem bloggers lives, especially those whom I've met :) My concern with the Darbyshires was always that they were Lib Dem members who'd worked for the party, but some of their contributions seemed a bit, well, random.
The post about personal content was not meant to be a criticism of those who choose not to share too much of themselves, but a defense of those that do. My only criticsm of you was a slight causticness towards the Darbyshires.
I do understand you not wanting to put too much of yourselves on your blog. I have made a promise not to blog about certain parts of my life here, although am not clear if blogging about not blogging about them is permitted.
As far as I can tell anything less than high praise towards R&L is interpreted as a personal attack, and responded to in kind. So it matters not how constructive anyone is, any cricicism is seen as nasty.
It's very sad.
Randomly dropping by from another blog - hope you don't mind - I think Robin and Leah are in a rather vicious cycle at the moment.
I think it all started going wrong with some nasty anonymous comments on their blog (and anonymous comments are horrible horrible things - I've encountered such vile things on my main blog over at livejournal before) and that put them on the defensive. The anonymous spoof blog was also, in my opinion, a kinda low trick. It basically made them very very self conscious about how they were being perceived and left them feeling as if they were under attack.
Hence the current hypersensitivity. At the end of the day if you get punched, you're going to wince at a gentle poke in the same place. And now they wince at these pokes, and in turn their reactions (which are seen as overreacting by people who didn't have those icky anonymous attacks) feed into further poking and it all gets nasty.
I can see where they are coming from. I've also known Leah for years, and she's honestly an incredibly lovely person in real life. She's just a tad on the fragile side.
I'll add this here rather than write another post about the Darbyshires. Yes BondWoman was right people are getting drawn in
This is surely a lesson in How seriously not to get it.
I mean people have suggested that they are obsessed with appearances and then they go on about how others look, proving everyone right. Leah even claims to be superior based on how she looks.
What a looser.
Sorry Sally,
She's a vicious narcississtic individual and made completely uncalled for attacks on a totally innocent individual.
The Leicestershires had nothing to do with that individual and frankly Leah got of lightly.
If she's that much of a sensitive flower, she should learn some empathy. I don't believe for a minute that she's a lovely person - not with the vitriol that she can come out with.
You might tell her that saying you are stunning and posting very average photos makes her look even more mad, sad and deluded.
Si, you'll find that half the entries you've linked to have now been deleted.
