Broadband Part II
My parents have been talking about broadband for ages. I went with Metronet as I could not be certain I could commit to a 12 month contract. But my parents have much more stable lives. They have email through talk21 which won't be affected by the transition.
Who can I suggest they get for broadband? Metronet has a high set-up charge, but I'm not aversed to buying them their own modem rather than rely on one from the ISP.

I'm with Pipex and they are pretty good. Don't know how they work cost wise, but it was easy to set up.
We're pipex too, we were certain to be on it a year and over a 12month period it worked out as one of the cheapest (on the basis of modem and line).
Had not problems, customer service has been good (incorrect item was sent in intial package and swapped for the correct one with no hassles).
We are with metronet too cause it worked out better for us and put Phil's parents on it as well cause then it all worked like ours and Phil had seen all the service type e-mails and could explain them if necessary. If your parents are more computer literate then this might not be an issue but if they need regular help it is worth considering as a benefit
I'm working on the basis that the understanding of what the support people say is going to be at the same level, no matter how simply they expalin everything...
But with Metronet I think the set-up charge would be a barrier.
